Active School
Our school is committed to staying healthy and active. The school recognsies the important benefits of physical education and it sport is a very important part of the life of the school. We hold the status of an Active School and are very proud of this achievement.
As part of our co-curricular activities, pupils are given the opportunity to train with professional coaches in a number of different sports. This is constantly evolving. Currently, our pupils engage in GAA skills and coaching, swimming lessons, yoga and rugby coaching.
Each year in June we have an Active Week. Various different physical activities are celebrated during this week and the highlight is our annual Sports Day which is held in the local GAA grounds. It is a great day for all!
Every year, we enter teams into many local competitions are are proud to bring home many medals each time. We take part in the Cumann na mBunscol blitzes and skills competitions, Wicklow Track and Field events and the Wicklow Invitational Athletics competitions.
As a staff we try to expose our pupils to as many different sports and activities as possible and this extends to organising visits and talks from local and national sportsmen and women. We regularly organise for players to talk to our pupils about what it takes to make it in sport: themes of resilience, determination and team work are celebrated.
