Seachtaine na Gaeilge
Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge linn! Tá immeachtaí ar súil timpeall na scoile le haghaidh seachtain na gaeilge. We have had a really great Seachtain na Gaeilge over the past week and it has been great to get all classes together for the first time in two years to celebrate our native language and immerse ourselves in our culture. I would like to say a special thank you to our wonderful múinteoirí who worked hard to organise the week.
Elizabeth and William Belton came to the school and were absolutely fantastic! They provided wonderful tuition in céilí dancing and Irish music. All pupils in 1st to 6th classes had a Céilí in the school yard followed by a whole school Ceolchoirm. We were regaled with dánta, rannta, amhráiní agus damhsa go leor! We were treated to The Rakes of Mallow dance by our infant classes and the Haka Gaelach by 3rd to 6th classes. Just some of the songs and poems were Rattlin’ Bog, Oró sé do Bheatha ‘Bhaile, léimigí, Casigí agus Mise Eire. We were also treated to an Irish Dance display by Niamh Carpenter and Ella Cunningham. An extra special moment was when our visiting Spanish students joined us on the microphone with cúpla focail! Well done boys!
St Patrick’s Day Parade
Ms Byrne led the junior classes and Ms Brady’s class in a parade. Ms Byrne was fantastic on the bagpipes and the flags, costumes and high spirits from our junior classes as they marched around the school yard was wonderful. Well done everyone!
Lá Glas, Gorm agus Buí
We had our first ever Lá Glas, Gorm agus Buí. This was a special dress up day to mark the end of Seachtain na Gaeilge and our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
