Everyone at Roundwood NS is delighted with our achievements in the recent Cumann na mBunscol Awards. Members of our school staff attended a prize giving ceremony in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in early March where we were delighted to hear the announcement that our school finished in a magnificent 3rd place in all of Ireland in the "Large School of the Year" category. On the night, our school's success did not end there as Roundwood NS also finished in 3rd place nationally in the category "Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture".
While the majority of the schools present on the night had to collect one award, our school principal, Ms. Sharkey, had to take to the stage on 2 separate occasions to receive a beautiful trophy each time on account of our two 3rd place finishes! The school also received 800 euro in prize money. This money will be spent on PE equipment to benefit all children in the school.
Local business, Roundwood Timber Ltd., also acknowledged the efforts of our 5th and 6th pupils whose work was instrumental on our school doing so well in the Cumann na mBunscol awards. Their generous gift has enabled the children in both classes to take a trip to Croke Park. A sincere "Thank you" to Noel and team on their very generous gesture.
