We had 50 athletes from 3rd-6th class attend the Wicklow schools track and field event in Charlesland sports track yesterday. Over 900 children from schools across Wicklow participated in long and short distance running including relays. Our 6th class girls relay team won Gold for the 3rd year in a row and our 3rd class boys relay team won the bronze medal. Other medals included a gold for Jess O'Connor and Liadh Fitzmaurice in the 600m, Lucas Kavanagh won silver in the 600m and Róisín Donelon won Silver in the 500m followed by Colm Byrne with a bronze for the 500m & Susie Ferguson with a silver medal in the 80m Sprint
Our field events included high jump, long jump, turbo javelin and tug of war. These were all a great success and the sun shone brightly. More medals were grabbed by Jess winning gold, Annamai winning silver and Liadh winning bronze in the High jump. Evaine Healy and Georgiana Neasca both won Gold in the turbo javelin. Congratulations to all the athletes. A very well done to everyone who took part.
